Massage Therapy is ancient medicine. Hieroglyphics
in Egyptian tombs depict pharaohs getting their feet rubbed. Traditional Chinese
medicine, of which massage is an integral part, has been practiced in its varied ways throughout Asia for centuries and is
as common as going to your local doctor.
Massage is a marvelous way to reduce the stress of every day living, which can accumulate
without our even realizing it. This higher level of stress can cause ailments
such as high blood pressure, reduced digestive efficiency (ulcers and irritable Bowel Syndrome), Repetitive Stress Injuries,
such as Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and chronic neck and back pain. Massage can help
by slowing the heart rate, lowering the blood pressure and allowing the body to feel safe to digest. In fact, a gurgling stomach is music to a massage therapists ears!
Honest!
Your first massage can be more than a little intimidating. Most importantly you must feel comfortable. Deciding what
feels good to you and what doesnt is a process, and one of which I am particularly aware when working with my clients. I check in with each new client to make sure all is well.
